Susan Pond, 78, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at Levine and Dickson Hospice House. She was born in Boston, Mass., on September 22, 1947, to her late parents, Harry and Frances Irwig.

Susan took great pride in her work as a runway and print model, a career that reflected her grace and confidence. Fashion was something she truly adored and remained a part of her daily life. She later found success in real estate, where her professionalism and warm personality left a lasting impression on all who worked with her.

In her 40s, Susan returned to school and earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Salem College.

Susan also had a deep love for animals, especially Great Pyrenees dogs. Her most recent rescue, Olaf, held a special place in her heart. She loved to travel and explored many corners of the world. Africa was her favorite destination, and she returned there many times. She was passionate about train travel, enjoying memorable journeys across multiple continents. Susan also treasured numerous trips with her daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren. The Turks & Caicos Islands offered her much-needed relaxation through the years. Her hobbies included reading, spending time with family and friends, and trips to Disney, which always brought her joy.

Susan was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dale Pond. She had been with Dale from age 16 and married him at age 19, sharing a lifetime together until his passing in 2020.

Susan is survived by her daughter, Ashli Guglielmo, her husband Don, and her three grandchildren, Christopher, Nicolas, and Angelina. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
