Virgil David Whitener, 64, of Statesville, N.C., passed away on Friday, February 6, 2026. He was born on May 23, 1961, to Brenda Warren Whitener and the late Robert Whitener.

Virgil was a member of Beulah Baptist Church and worked at Cintas Uniform Service, previously Rental Uniform Service. He was a Jeep enthusiast and loved four-wheeling and farming on his tractor. He enjoyed helping those in the community, but most of all he loved being a husband, father and grandfather.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Kimberly Wooten Whitener; mother, Brenda Whitener; daughter, Nicole Perdue (Eli); son, Austin Whitener (Kellie); son-in-law, Michael Thomas; grandchildren, Alivia Thomas, Oakley Thomas, Brantley Whitener, Kayelynn Perdue, and Brooklynn Whitener; brothers-in-law, Rick Wooten (Pam) and Randy Wooten (Machelle); and aunts, cousins and numerous loved ones.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Stephanie Thomas.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at Beulah Baptist Church with Rev. Brian Burgess officiating. The family will visit with friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at Troutman Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Beulah Baptist Church or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
