The United Way of Iredell County and our dedicated partner agencies have long been committed to supporting our neighbors in need—and that commitment remains unwavering.

As the senior director of community investment, I have the privilege of working closely with our local nonprofits. I hear their challenges, help them problem-solve, and ensure they remain strong, reliable resources for our community.

Right now, one urgent issue stands out: food security.

Local food agencies are reporting a significant decline in food donations, making it increasingly difficult to keep their shelves stocked.

We are calling on the community to act by:

• Donating food directly to your local pantry — many are in immediate need.

• Looking for donation opportunities at community events like this weekend’s Pumpkin Fest, where several agencies will be collecting food.

• Supporting the United Way’s bulk buying initiative by donating at https://iredellfood.org or texting IredellFood (one word) to 41444.

United Way is leveraging its bulk purchasing power to stretch every dollar further. By pooling donations, we can buy food in large quantities at reduced prices—stocking multiple pantries across Iredell County more efficiently.

One hundred percent of every donation made through this initiative goes directly to food purchases. United Way will not retain any administrative costs.

For anyone in need of assistance, NC211.org or dialing 2-1-1 offers 24/7 access to local resources.

We believe in the strength and generosity of Iredell County. Together, we can ensure no neighbor goes hungry.
