Two men face felony drug charges after a Mooresville police officer encountered them outside of a town recreation center and then found nearly a pound of marijuana in a vehicle.


The Mooresville Police Department announced the arrest of Nazir Cartrell Lowe, 20, in a news release. A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Xavier Deion Lowe.
MPD officers encountered two men outside a parked car near the Selma Burke Recreation Center about 10:30 p.m. on Sunday, according to the news release. The center was closed at the time.
During the officer’s investigation, Nazir Lowe was detained. The second individual, later identified as Xavier Lowe, 26, of Clemmons ran away and eluded officers, according to the news release.
Officers searched the subject’s car and discovered 430.6 grams of suspected marijuana, police said.
Nazir Lowe was later charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver a schedule VI controlled substance, felony possession of a schedule VI controlled substance, and maintaining a vehicle for the sale of a controlled substance. He was transported to the Iredell County Detention Center where he received no bond.
