Louise Thompson Martin
February 20, 1942 – June 25, 2025

In the twinkle of the eye, Mrs. Weezer left a life of struggle for restored health, mind and body met by family members she missed so much.

A lifelong member of Shearer Presbyterian Church, she often catered meals/events for church, friends, and family.

Louise retired from a long career at Davidson College in the Athletic Department. Several months after retiring from Davidson College, after watching too many westerns with Parks, she decided it was time to return to work. Dale Earnhardt Inc. was looking for a receptionist. When asked what her goals were during the job interview, she advised she did not want to be stressed or required to think. She was hired, and her favorite driver became Boris Said.

Louise was preceded in death by the love of her life, Parks Martin; son, Timothy William Martin; daughter-in-law, Rhonda Goodman Martin; and her parents, Sarah Thompson (Lloyd) and Leon Thompson (Dorothy).

Left to cherish memories of Sis, Mom, and Nana are her brother, Leon “Bud” Thompson (Linda), daughter, Cindy Wiggins (Randy), grandchildren, Troy, Cody, GW, Brooke, Austin, Natalee Martin, and bonus daughters, Ashlee Vineyard and Alisha Ahuna. Louise also leaves behind nephews and nieces she loved very much. Life would not have been complete without her special life-long friends, Jane and Doris, and the adventures they shared.

Nana loved and cherished her family. Before being diagnosed with Parkinson’s, she loved cooking meals for family and sharing life around a dining room table. Louise loved beach trips and shopping sprees with her partners in crime, Jane and Doris — both of whom were dedicated to and cared for her until the end.

Thanks and appreciation to the staff of Wilkes Assisted Living for the unprecedented level of care, compassion, friendship, and love provided for 3½ years. Special love and thanks to Wilkes Assisted table mates Charlotte Hankins and Barbara Groce as well as the special man in her life at Wilkes Assisted Living, Kaison Sheppard.
