Ta’Mar Chanel Dixon was born on January 15, 1997, in Statesville, N.C., to LaShonda Smith and the late Brett Lamar Dixon Sr. She departed this life on June 20, 2025, at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro, N.C.

Ta’ Mar was a vibrant soul with a heart full of love and creativity, She touched many lives with her kindness, strength, and passion for the arts. A proud graduate of Statesville High School, Ta’Mar was a spirited cheerleader and a devoted student of Visual and Performing Arts. She furthered her education at Mitchell Community College and graduated from Winston-Salem State University. Never one to stop learning or growing, she also completed training at Nailed It Nail Academy in Durham, N.C., where her love for beauty and self-expression truly shined.

Ta’Mar found joy in making others feel beautiful, whether through styling hair, creating stunning nail designs, or sharing delicious meals from her kitchen. She brought the same dedication and warmth to her professional role at N.C. State Employees Credit Union in Greensboro, where she was respected and loved by her colleagues and clients alike.

She was preceded in death by her father, Brett Lamar Dixon Sr., as well as her grandparents Costella Thompson and Clyde Dixon.

Ta’Mar is survived by her loving mother, LaShonda Smith; and her siblings, Tineya Dixon, Treyvon Smith, Brett Dixon Jr., Malani Dixon, and Melei Dixon; and special siblings, Hayden Turner, Qimare Bruner, and Qiliq Bruner. Her legacy continues through the hearts of her surviving grandparents, Christine D. Ward and Bronchae Smith Sr., who helped shape the incredible woman she became.

Ta’Mar’s life was a beautiful blend of faith, family, friendship, and fierce determination. Her smile, her laughter, and her unwavering support will be missed by all who knew her.

Celebration of Life services will be held on Monday, June 30, 2025, at 2 pm at Christian Outreach of the Piedmont Inc. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. at the church. Bishop Glen J. Usry will be officiating.
