Frederick Arthur Clark, 65, son of the late Adolph Clark and Mamie Hair Clark, was born in Bronx, N.Y., on March 14, 1955. He departed this life on Saturday, October 10, 2020, at the Gordon Hospice House in Statesville, N.C.

He attended Curtis High School in Staten Island, N.Y., and the University of New York, where he received his Bachelor’s Degree. He was employed with Winston-Salem City Transit, where he retired. At one time he was also employed by NYC Transit Authority and Charlotte Area Transit Authority. He had 28 years of Recovery.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brothers, Rodney Clark, Peter Clark and Ronald Clark; sisters, Brenda Rivera, Alicia Purcell, Carol Tomlin, Marcia Dejesus and Tammy Purcell; a nephew, Silas Clark; nieces, Julia Clark, Muslimah Clark, and Oriah Dejesus; mother-in-law, June Holdsclaw; a sister-in-law, Anita Holdsclaw; and brothers-in-law, Thurman Holdsclaw, Thurman McGee Holdsclaw Sr. and Thurman Holdsclaw, Jr. He was united in marriage to Bonita Clark.

He leaves to cherish the memory of his life, his loving and devoted wife, Bonita of the home; one son, Fred Clark (Lisa) of Staten Island, N.Y.; two stepchildren, Chaimque Holdsclaw (Cara) of Yonkers, N.Y., and Davon Holdsclaw (Sara) of South Dakota; one sister, Susie Percell of Colorado Springs, Colo.; three grandchildren, Jayla Clark, Jalyssa Clark, and Cairo Holdsclaw; nephews, David (Beverly) Rivera of Colorado Springs, Peter Clark of Staten Island, N.Y., Dival, Frisco, and Fadale of Atlanta, Ga.; three nieces, Paulette, Dejesus and Naimah DeJesus, all of Statesville; great nephews, Justin, Julian and Jordon Dejesus; a great grandniece, Lily White; three sisters-in-law, Jacqueline (Berlin) White and Gloria Clark, both of Charlotte, and Michele Clark of New York City, N.Y.; one cousin, Donna Mathis of Atlanta, Ga.; a special friend, Gordon “Keith” Redmon of Statesville; best friend, Larry Necome of Staten Island, N.Y.; and a host of other relatives, and friends.

Celebration of Life Services were conducted on Friday, October 16, 2020, at Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home. Pastor Annette Houston officiated and Pastor Michael Turner eulogized. Burial followed in the Belmoont Cemetery.
