Special to Iredell Free News

The Iredell County Public Library continues to offer limited services while taking measures to ensure the health of staff and patrons during the COVID-19 pandemic. Services include materials for checkout, digital programming, and a new express checkout service.

The library will be modifying its service delivery, effective Monday, June 1. During this period, patrons will be able to pick up holds or Express Books orders from 3 to 6 p.m. on Monday – Friday.

Express Books is a new service in which patrons fill out a form with their reading interests, and staff members choose books for them.

The library is also quarantining all returned materials for 72 hours prior to handling or checking them in. No fines will be assessed on materials during this time.

Additionally, each location is currently allowing one patron in the building at a time to allow adequate time for staff to sanitize checkout stations. In order to keep staff and patrons healthy, all library staff and users must wear a face mask before entering.

Public Computer Access

Iredell County Public Library will be accepting computer/WiFi appointments beginning June 1 for adults between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Monday – Friday. Access is available for job-related issues, including filing for unemployment, searching for work, creating a resume, and filing taxes. Please call your preferred location to make an appointment.

Summer Reading Program

Finally, the library’s Summer Reading Program begins June 1. Patrons of all ages can collect a summer reading packet from any location when picking up holds or Express Book orders and follow along with digital programming on the library’s Facebook page, @iredelllibrary. The documents and activities in the packet will also be available for download on the library’s website.

Access the library’s website at https://iredell.lib.nc.us/ for more information on Summer Reading, current operations, and free digital learning resources.
