Troutman town officials are seeking nominations for the 2020 Citizen of the Year and Organization of the Year recognitions.

The deadline for nominations is March 31.

CITIZEN OF THE YEAR

The 20th person to receive the Citizen of the Year Award can be either a town resident or someone who works in or contributes to Troutman in some way deserving of the honor.

The nominee should be committed to preserving, maintaining or improving quality of life for Troutman residents. Residents can nominate friends, neighbors, business people, or community members who have performed good deeds or provided a service that had a positive impact on the community.

The nominee cannot be an employee of the Town of Troutman.

The Troutman Town Council will select the winner from the nominations. Members appreciate the community’s assistance in recommending worthy candidates.

When submitting an individual for consideration, the nominator should detail the person’s community involvement, including specific actions that merit consideration for the award, in 400 words or less.

The nominator should describe how the candidate’s actions went beyond the normal scope and time investment of others in the community.

Nominators should also detail how the person’s actions benefit the community, neighborhood, or the Town of Troutman as a whole. The nomination should also specifically relate which geographic areas (e.g., block, neighborhood, Town of Troutman) were improved and what demographics (e.g., youth, elderly, all residents) were helped.

ORGANIZATION OF THE YEAR

The Organization of the Year recognition is presented to an organization that is respected for their commitment, support, services, and activities that promote a positive influence in the community.

The nominator is asked to provide personal and organization contact information and to describe the organization’s contributions to the Troutman community in 150 words or less.

Last year’s winner was Southern Treat/Full Belly Deli, a business that has been very supportive of town-sponsored events, participating in Trails and Treats, giving out hundreds of cones during the National Night Out event, and donating cookies, hot cider and coffee for the Wicked Fast 5K.

The store also donated thousands of filled eggs and a dozen Easter baskets for the recent egg hunt at ESC Park. They also contribute to the Party in the Park events, the Independence Day Parade, and Front Porch Fest.

The nomination forms are available online at http://www.troutmannc.gov at the Forms and Documents link (located under under Administration section) or can be picked up at Town Hall.
