Iredell County staff has worked with a consultant and interested stakeholders during the past year to develop the first ever Iredell County Transportation Master Plan (ICTMP).

On Tuesday, Planning Director Matthew Todd will present the plan at the Board of County Commissioners meeting at 7 p.m. The meeting, which is open to the public, will take place inside the Iredell County Government Center, 200 S. Center Street Statesville.

Todd will recommend that the board adopt the plan as a guiding document for the county planning and development department following his presentation.

The ICTMP outlines a comprehensive transportation strategy that focuses on managing congestion, improving mobility and safety, and positioning the county to meet future transportation needs. The plan considers all surface transportation modes and was developed in partnership with local municipalities, NCDOT, transit providers, and transportation professionals.

The plan will serve as a guide for planning staff and elected officials when making transportation infrastructure investment decisions, helping them coordinate infrastructure improvements with land use decisions and secure funding as it becomes available.

According to Todd, the committee held two rounds of public engagement during the yearlong process, and specifically solicited feedback from businesses and the municipalities within Iredell County.

The plan was partially paid for by a grant awarded thhrough the Charlotte Regional Transportation Planning Organization.

In other matters, the board will conduct four public hearings during the meeting:
