Iredell-Statesville Schools officials reported an increase in the number of staff members and students who tested positive for COVID-19 during the district’s latest report.

For the week of April 16-23, seven staff members and 23 students tested positive for COVID-19, according to the district’s COVID-19 dashboard.

Only two cases were attributed to secondary spread in schools, officiials said.

A total of 16 staff members were forced to quarantine or isolate due to possible exposure during the reporting period, along with 651 students.

I-SS and the Iredell County Health Department notified parents at the following 16 district schools of possible exposure during this reporting period:
