FROM STAFF REPORTS
A Statesville man faces felony child pornography charges following an investigation by the Statesville Police Department.
The SPD began an investigation on August 2 after receiving a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) regarding five files of child pornography.
Investigator Lane, who is also a member of the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) task force, began investigating this case and was able to link the files of child pornography to Tracy Allen Knight, who resides on Euclid Avenue, Statesville, according to an SPD news release.
On September 24, the SPD, the State Bureau of Investigation, Mooresville Police Department and ICAC task force members executed a search warrant at 346 Euclid Avenue, police said. During the search of the residence, numerous items were seized linking Knight to child pornography, according to the news release.
Knight was taken into custody and charged with three counts of third-degree child exploitation. He was taken before Magistrate Callejas and given a $50,000 secured bond.
The investigation is ongoing, police said.
