FROM STAFF REPORTS

Third Creek Middle and Third Creek Elementary schools were placed on lockdown on Wednesday morning after the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office received information indicating that a weapon was possibly on campus.

After ICSO personnel notified school district officials about the risk, both schools were placed on lockdown. School officials quickly implemented their crisis response plan, Iredell-Statesville Schools officials said in a news release.

Through an investigation and sweep of the campus, no weapons were located on campus, I-SS officials said.

The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office determined both campuses were safe. All students and staff are safe and will continue the day as normal.

Both campuses will have additional law enforcement present for the rest of the day.
