Event returns to Downtown Statesville September 8-10

Special to Iredell Free News

Now in its seventh year, the Full Bloom Film Festival has earned a reputation for providing a global film experience with an intimate local vibe.

The 2022 Full Bloom Film Festival will be held September 8-10 in Downtown Statesville, and tickets are currently available online.

The festival strives to select high-quality films in five categories — Narrative Feature, Documentary Feature, Short Narrative, Short Documentary, and Animation — and curates them into sessions that run the gamut from the heartwarming to the horrific, and everything in between.

Iredell Arts Council Director John Koppelmeyer said the feedback received about previous festivals has been overwhelmingly positive, including from the many filmmakers who visit Statesville to attend the event.

“The festival focuses on bringing incredible films and – of course – fun parties for all who attend,” Koppelmeyer said. “It’s always fun to roll out the red carpet and showcase not only incredible art, but also all our city has to offer.”

Films are shown at a variety of venues throughout Statesville, and parties are held at local establishments.

Generous community sponsors are the backbone of the festival and make it possible to offer an experience that would typically only be available in larger locations, said FBFF Chairman Charles Ashe.

“Our community is incredibly supportive of the arts, and the Full Bloom Film Festival,” he said. “It shows how much the arts are woven into the fabric of what makes Statesville unique.”

Submissions are currently open for the Full Bloom Film Festival. Filmmakers from around the globe are encouraged to submit films in five categories: Narrative Feature, Documentary Feature, Short Narrative, Short Documentary, and Animation. Awards will be given to the winning films in each category as well as “Best of Fest.” Submissions are accepted at www.filmfreeway.com/fullbloomfilmfestival.
