FROM STAFF REPORTS

A man faces felony assault charges and two women face drug and prostitution charges following an Iredell County Sheriff’s Office investigation of a shooting that occurred at a marina near Troutman early Sunday morning.

Deputies were dispatched to Skippers Landing at 1152 Perth Road about 4:30 a.m. Sunday in response to a reported kidnapping, according to an ICSO news release.

The deputies, who arrived one minute and 13 seconds after the call came in, observed two females and a male standing in the parking lot near the walkway leading to the pier, Sheriff Darren Campbell said in the news release.

As the deputies approached, the male told them there was another person on a boat who was shot, Campbell said.

The deputies went to the area where boats were tied up and located a man in his late 50s who has sustained two gunshot wounds, according to the news release. A semiautomatic pistol, three loaded magazines, and a bag containing additional items were located in the parking lot, Campbell said.

The scene was secured, and Iredell County EMS personnel arrived and transported the gunshot victim to an area trauma center for emergency treatment and surgery.  The ICSO did not release the name of the shooting victim, who was listed in serious condition.

Crime Scene Investigators and Criminal Investigators responded to the scene to begin the investigation.

The three individuals at the scene were identified as Markis Allan Kirkpatrick and Andiaye Tyler, both of Charlotte, and Keishari Chanel-Wicks Johnson of Las Vegas, Nev.

Criminal investigators transported the three to the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office for questioning.

Crime Scene Investigators collected shell casings and other evidence, Campbell said. They were also able to obtain security camera footage from a business near the crime scene.

While questioning the three people at the sheriff’s office, investigators noticed differences in their statements and gathered information about activities that occurred prior to the three coming to the pier and the shooting taking place.

Based on the statements, video footage, and other evidence recovered, the investigators obtained several felony and misdemeanor arrest warrants against the suspects.
