Members of the ICSO Warrant Squad, patrol deputies and investigators responded to 1106 Weaver Street on Sunday after receiving information about the whereabouts of Dustin Blaine Owensby, 34, of Troutman.

According to Sheriff Darren Campbell, an informant advised the deputies that Owensby had been making statements about not going back to prison. The suspect planned to “shoot it out with law enforcement officers if they attempted to take him,” according to the news release.

After setting up a perimeter around an older model camper at the Weaver Street address, deputies began calling commands over a loudspeaker for Owensby to come out, Campbell said. A short time later a female ran out of the trailer. While being interviewed by the deputies, she confirmed that Owensby was inside the trailer, according to the news release.

After more than two hours of telling Owensby to exit the trailer, deputies entered the building and searched for him. Owensby was taken into custody and transported to the Iredell County Detention Center.

Owensby was served with several outstanding felony and misdemeanor warrants as well as an outstanding Probation Violation. Magistrate Thompson issued a $100,000 secured bond on the charges. The felony and misdemeanor charges stem from an investigation the ICSO investigation conducted on Tuesday, March 22, related to a breaking and entering and larceny on Elmwood Road.

According to the ICSO, Owensby’s criminal record includes the following charges, Misdemeanor Assault, Misdemeanor Resisting a Public Officer, Two Counts of Misdemeanor Breaking or Entering, Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Two Counts of Misdemeanor Larceny, Misdemeanor Assault on a Governmental Official, Misdemeanor Common Law Forgery, Misdemeanor Assault on a Female, Felony Hit and Run Failing to Stop with Injuries, Two Counts of Misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana, Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Two Counts of Felony Larceny, Felony Larceny, 13 Counts of Felony Breaking or Entering, Two Counts of Felony Obtaining Property by False Pretense, Six Counts of Felony Larceny After Breaking or Entering, Felony Possession of Heroin, Two Counts of Felony Larceny of a Motor Vehicle, Felony Forgery of Instrument, Felony Larceny of a Firearm, Felony Breaking or Entering of a Motor Vehicle, Felony Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle, and Misdemeanor Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Substance.
