A northern Iredell County resident faces multiple counts of larceny of a motor vehicle following an investigation by the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Darren Campbell announced the arrest of Scotty Eugene Shoemaker, 54, Shoemaker Farm Road, Statesville, in a news release Wednesday.

On Friday, October 7, Deputy R. Ball was at 270 Shoemaker Farm Road investigating the larceny of three motor vehicles.

During this investigation, he observed drag marks from where one of the vehicles was sitting leading out of the driveway and onto the road, according to the news release. Deputy Ball followed the drag marks all the way to 143 Shoemaker Farm Road and observed a yellow Chevy car matching the description of one of the stolen vehicles sitting in the driveway.

Sgt. W. Goforth also noticed a black Chevy truck parked in the backyard, Campbell said.

Deputy Ball and Sgt. Goforth spoke to Scotty Shoemaker about the vehicles on his property and he admitted to taking them from 270 Shoemaker Farm Road, according to the news release. Shoemaker’s mother, who was also at the residence, showed deputies where the third stolen vehicle was located, Campbell said.

All three vehicles were recovered and removed from the property.

Shoemaker was arrested and charged with three counts of felony larceny of a motor vehicle. He was also served with an outstanding Order for Arrest for failure to appear.

Shoemaker was taken to the Iredell County Detention Center, where Magistrate Thompson issued a $97,500 dollars secured bond.

According to the ICSO, Shoemaker’s criminal record includes the following charges: Misdemeanor Breaking and Entering, five counts of Driving While License Revoked, Misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana, DWI Level 3, Misdemeanor Larceny, Felony Flee to Elude Arrest, three counts of DWI Level 1, Felony Possession of Firearm by Felon, Felony Habitual Impaired Driver, Felony Breaking and Entering, DWI Level 3, and Misdemeanor Criminal Contempt.
