Special to Iredell Free News

Waves Entertainment in conjunction with Iredell Arts Council, All-American Sound, Stage and Lights and Statesville Recreation & Parks Department are bringing back the 2nd Saturday Festival Series to Statesville.

The first event for the 2023 Season, presented by Southern Distilling, is scheduled for Saturday, June 10, and will feature‘Art In The Park. The work of more than 30 artists will be on display.

The free event, which runs from 2 to 7 p.m., will be held at Martin Luther King Jr. Park, located at 911 Lakewood Drive in Statesville.

“Teaming up with the 2nd Saturday Festival is a nice opportunity for the residents of Statesville to participate in an event that celebrates the talent of the many fine artists who will be exhibiting their work, and at the same time they can enjoy the other entertainment activities available in the park that day,” said John Koppelmeyer, executive director of Iredell Arts Council.

Cornelius-based Waves Entertainment has produced the 2nd Friday Street Festival in Downtown Cornelius on the second Friday of every month for the past eight years.

The inaugural event in Statesville was held last August and attracted thousands of attendees.

“For this next event expect to see a lot of new vendors as well as an expanded Kids Zone. We encourage people to come out and enjoy a fun day in the park,” said Justin Taylor, co-owner of Waves Entertainment.

The one-day festival will feature live music by N-SPIRE on the main stage from 4:30 to 7 p.m., food trucks, craft beer and mixed drinks from Southern Distilling, along with games and giveaways.
