The Compassionate Friends of Mooresville will join hundreds of thousands of families worldwide in lightning candles as an act of symbolic remembrance of the children, grandchildren and siblings gone too soon on Sunday, December 10.

The event, held at Williamson Chapel United Methodist Church, 575 Brawley School Road, Mooresville, begins at 6:30 p.m.

Candles will be first lit at 7 p.m. local time. As candles burn down in one time zone, they are lit in the next, creating a 24-hour wave of light, as the observance continues around the world.

The local event will include a slideshow of our children, photos, music, readings, and poems, followed by a social gathering. The public is invited to attend and participate if appropriate and beneficial in their loss.

This time of year can be a very trying time for those who are grieving the death of a child, no matter their age and no matter how long it has been since they died.

The Worldwide Candle Lighting will bring together bereaved families around the entire world, symbolically displaying the love that they have for their children who have died. When each candle is lit, the light of that love will shine brightly in hundreds of thousands of bereaved hearts in all countries around the globe.
