A Republican who represents the 84th District, McNeely has been elected to two terms in the N.C. House after being appointed in July of 2019. He previously served as an Iredell County commissioner and as a member of the county planning board.

“Representing the incredible people of my district and Iredell County has been an honor, and I am humbled by the trust and support they have shown me,” McNeely said. “I am dedicated to continuing the work of securing essential funding and resources that directly impact the lives of our residents.”

Candidate filing begins Monday, December 4, and ends on Friday, December 15.

In his campaign announcement, McNeely touted his “unwavering commitment to serving the community and a proven track record of effective leadership.”

During his time in Raleigh, McNeely has worked to secure more than $140 million in the last two budget cycles in state funding for local projects. He specifically mentioned a $6 million allocation to fund veterans’ housing initiatives in Iredell County.

“Our veterans have sacrificed immensely for our nation, and I am committed to ensuring they receive the support and care they deserve,” he said.

McNeely said his candidacy would be built on a foundation of “proven results, collaborative leadership, and an unwavering commitment to advocating for the diverse needs of Iredell County.”

The primary is scheduled for Tuesday, March 5, and the general election is November 5.
