Fort Dobbs State Historic Site hosted a living history event on Saturday to commemorate the 263rd anniversary of a clash between North Carolina soldiers and Cherokee at the site of the replica fort.

Soldiers and refugees provided demonstrations of life inside a blockhouse fort, including woodworking, cooking, and scheduled historic weapons firing. Enrolled members of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians discuss how the war affected the lives of their ancestors.
