She succeeds Terri Masiello, who retired after more than 26 years in the position.

“We expect great things from Jessica and want our community to know that the staff and board of Piedmont Mediation are behind her 100 percent,” the nonprofit said in a news release.

Lemons has worked with Piedmont Medication for ten years. She began working for the nonprofit as an intern while studying at Mitchell Community College. Her first assignment was teaching life skills to youth at the Iredell-Statesville Schools alternative school. She advanced in her profession by becoming a certified mediator in District Court and began mediating with adults in court and youthful offenses in local schools.  She has also overseen Teen Court.

After earning her associate degree in Human Services from Mitchell Community College, Lemons received her bachelors in Human Services from Gardner-Webb University.
