A former softball coach who was charged with felony indecent liberties with a student last spring faces new charges as a result of an ongoing investigation by the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Darren Campbell announced the arrest of Thomas Patrick Strahan, 59, of Coverdale Court, Cornelius, in a news release Friday.

Following Strahan’s arrest in May of 2022, investigators assigned to the ICSO Special Victims Unit identified and interviewed other potential victims.

As a result of those interviews, investigators determined there was probable cause to file additional charges against Strahan in connection with incidents involving other juvenile athletes. Strahan was not a teacher with Iredell-Statesville Schools.

Strahan was arrested in Mecklenburg County on Wednesday, March 1, and charged with six additional counts of indecent liberties with a student.

He was being held in the Iredell County Detention Center in lieu of $250,000 bond.
