A Mocksville man faces drug and gun charges after being stopped for riding a dirt bike on West Memorial Highway by Iredell County Sheriff’s Office deputies.

Sheriff Darren Campbell announced the arrest of Patrick Tyler Wooten, 30, of Ijames Church Road, Mocksville, in a news release Tuesday.

ICSO deputies conducted a traffic stop near Interstate 77 on Saturday, May 6, after observing Wooten riding a dirt bike on with no registration plates or lights, Campbell said.

Wooten advised deputies that he had a handgun inside his sweater pocket, according to the news release. Deputies found a Smith & Wesson handgun on his person, along with methamphetamine, cocaine and drug paraphernalia, Campbell said.

Wooten was arrested and transported to the Iredell County Detention Center, where he was charged with Felony Possession of Methamphetamine, Felony Possession of Cocaine, Felony Maintaining a Vehicle or Dwelling for a Controlled Substance, a misdemeanor drug offense and misdemeanor carrying a concealed gun.

He received a $15,000 secured bond.
