A Stony Point man faces felony drug charges after Iredell County Sheriff’s Office deputies investigated an anonymous complaint about drug activity.

Sheriff Darren Campbell announced the arrest of Herman Dale Payne, 61, of East Lackey Farm Road, Stony Point, in a news release.

Deputies W. Wiedenmann and M. Sharpe responded to an anonymous complaint at Payne’s home on Friday, April 28, Campbell said.

After making contact with Payne, the deputies advised him of the information they had received.

Payne admitted to having narcotics in residence, according to the news release.

Deputies then conducted a search of the residence and located methamphetamine, psychedelic mushrooms, buprenorphine hydrochloride, marijuana, and several items of drug paraphernalia, Campbell said.

Payne was arrested and charged with Felony Possession of Methamphetamine, Felony Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Substance, Felony Maintaining a Dwelling for a Controlled Substance, Misdemeanor Possession of a Schedule III Controlled Substance, and three misdemeanor drug offenses.

Payne was taken before Magistrate Callejas, who set his bond at $7,500.
