A Mooresville man faces seven felony charges in connection with the sexual assault of a child following an investigation by the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Darren Campbell announced the arrest of Orbin Osiris Guerra-Perez, 35, of Foursquare Road, Mooresville, in a news release Monday.

On Thursday, February 16, the Sheriff’s Office received a report regarding a sexual assault of a child, Campbell said. The investigation was assigned to Detective E. Lane with the Special Victim’s Unit for further investigation.

Detective Lane conducted several interviews and obtained statements from family members during the investigation. Based on the evidence gathered during the investigation, Lane obtained felony arrest warrants for Guerra-Perez.

Guerra-Perez was arrested on February 23 and charged with five counts of Felony Indecent Liberties with a Minor, Felony Statutory Sex Offense with a Child under 15, and Felony Sexual Activity by a Substitute Parent or Custodian.

The suspect was taken before Magistrate Imes at the Iredell County Detention Center, where he was issued a $500,000 secured bond.
