A Mooresville man faces multiple felony charges in connection with the sexual abuse of a child following an investigation by the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Darren Campbell announced the arrest of Joseph Ryan Perry, 37, of Ginger Lane, Mooresville, in a news release Tuesday.

The ICSO Special Victims Unit received a report on August 18 regarding the sexual assault of a juvenile.  The case was assigned to SVU Detective C. James for investigation.

Based on information gathered during the investigation, the detective obtained warrants for Perry’s arrest.

Perry was taken into custody on August 25 and charged with five counts of Felony Indecent Liberties with a Child and two counts of Felony Statutory Sex Offense against a Child. The suspect was transported to the Iredell County Detention Center, where Magistrate Chambers issued a $150,000 secured bond.

This investigation is ongoing and more charges may be filed, Campbell said.

According to the ICSO, Perry’s criminal record includes the following charges: Two counts of Misdemeanor Simple Possession of Schedule IV Controlled Substance, two counts of Misdemeanor Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Misdemeanor Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Felony Second-Degree Burglary, Felony Larceny, Misdemeanor Communicating Threats, two counts of Driving while License Revoked, Misdemeanor Second-Degree Trespass, Misdemeanor First-Degree Trespass, Felony Assault Inflicting Serious Bodily Injury, Misdemeanor Assault on a Child under 12 Years Old, Felony Flee to Elude Arrest, two counts of Misdemeanor Assault on a Female, Misdemeanor Criminal Contempt, Felony Obtain Property by False Pretense, Driving with Impaired, two counts of Felony Habitual Misdemeanor Assault, and Misdemeanor Larceny.
