Statesville firefighters extinguished a blaze L. Gordon Iron & Metal Co. on Wednesday morning.

According to a Statesville Fire Department news release, SFD personnel were dispatched to 1300 Salisbury Road at 11:10 a.m. Wednesday for a report of an explosion in an outside machine that resulted in a fire.

Firefightes had the fire under control by 11:40 a.m.

One employee was treated for smoke inhalation, according to the news release.
