The Statesville Police Department is asking the public to help identify a man who robbed a bank on Friday morning.

Officers responded to the Bank of America located at 1616 East Broad Street about 9:30 a.m. in response to a robbery, according to an SPD news release.

A white man, described as 5-foot 10-inches tall with a medium build and brown hair, indicated that he had a gun and demanded money from the bank employees, police said. The suspect was 30 to 40 years of age and was wearing a blue surgical mask, eyeglasses, a tan or gray polo shirt with a black undershirt and dark pants, according to the news release.

The suspect left the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash and was believed to be driving a 2010-2018 dark blue Toyota Prius. Investigators reviewed surveillance footage of the bank and secured photos of the suspect and suspect vehicle.
