FROM STAFF REPORTS

The Statesville Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred Monday afternoon.

The SPD received a 911 call at 4:07 p.m. Monday regarding a person who had been shot and was lying in the road in the 300 block of North Tradd Street, police said in a news release.

Officers responded to the scene at 352 North Tradd Street and found Brandis Teon Imes, a 43-year-old resident of Statesville, lying in the driveway with a gunshot wound to the leg, according to the news release.

The officers administered first aid to Imes, who was transported to Atrium Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem by Iredell County EMS for further treatment.

The SPD Violent Crimes Unit responded to the scene and initiated an investigation into the incident.

At this stage, police said, it appears this shooting is unrelated to the shooting on Hill Terrace on Saturday and appears to be an isolated incident.

Two teens were shot early Saturday morning in the 900 block of Hill Terrace.

The investigation into Monday’s shooting is still ongoing. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Statesville Police Department at 704-878-3406.
