Nicholas Allen has been named as the new leader of Harmony Elementary School. He will fill the opening created by Todd Russo’s transition to principal at the Agriculture & Science Early College following the retirement of Billy Wells.

Superintendent Jeff James announced Allen’s appointment in a news release Thursday.

Allen currently serves as the assistant principal at Celeste Henkel Elementary School. He has served as a social studies teacher, administrative intern, instructional technology facilitator, and assistant principal. Prior to his work in public schools, Allen served in a variety of leadership roles in several furniture companies in North Carolina and Florida.

Allen holds a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, a master’s degree in teaching from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, and two graduate certificates — one in instructional systems technology and the other in school administration from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

He will begin his new role on July 1.
