The Troutman Police Department and Troutman Fire & Rescue, in partnership with Troutman Parks & Recreation, will host the 3rd Annual Red and Blue 5K on Saturday, May 18.

The race, which gets underway at 6 p.m., will start and finish at the Downtown Depot, located at 137 S. Main Street in Troutman. This 5K is open to runners and walkers of all ages and experience levels.

The entry fee is $30. Each participant will receive a T-shirt and finisher’s medal. (The guaranteed T-shirt deadline was May 1.)

Proceeds from the race are divided between the charities of the Police Department and Fire & Rescue’s choosing.

The Police Department will donate half of the proceeds to the First Responders Children’s Foundation, which provides financial support to the families of first responders who have given their lives in the line of duty.

Troutman Fire & Rescue will donate the other half of the proceeds to the Firefighters’ Burned Children’s Fund, which supports burn survivors.

The Police Department has also added Back the Blue NC to its list of charities, which will directly help the families of the fallen officers in the recent tragedy in Charlotte.
