A former Statesville Police Department officer has been charged with statutory rape following an investigation by the N.C. State Bureau of Investigation.

Stephen Quinn Gordon, 22, who lives in Davie County, was arrested Tuesday following an investigation by the the SBI’s Northwestern District Office.

According to court records, he was charged with statutory sex offense with a child age 15 or younger and statutory sex offense with a child age 15 or younger. The alleged offenses occurred on November 17, 2023, in Iredell County.

Magistrate D.B. Chambers ordered Gordon jailed without bond pending his first appearance in court. He was being held in the Iredell County Detention Center on Tuesday.

Gordon, who has hired by the Statesville Police Department on October 26, 2022, resigned his position on November 29, 2023.
