The Gemstone District (Iredell County) Cub Scouts recently held their annual Cub Scout Olympics at the West Iredell Senior High School. Scouts participating in the Olympics were gold medal winners from various Cub Scout Packs throughout the county.

Lion Cubs, Tiger Cubs, Cub Scouts and Webelos Scouts participated by age group in a total of eight events, including softball throw, broomstick throw, push-ups, sit-ups, 50 yard dash, running long jump, standing long jump and football kick.

Ribbons were given for first-, second- and third-place finisher in each event for each age group. A total of 11 Scouts competed in the Olympics from four different Cub Scout Packs in the county.

Five/Six-Year-Old Medalists

♦ Silver: Brinkley Case-Brown (Pack #377 Mooresville)
♦ Bronze: Carter Moir (Pack #607 Statesville)

Seven/Eight-Year-Old Medalists

♦ Gold: Ryan Maietta (Pack #377 Mooresville)
♦ Silver: Jace Bibey (Pack # 607 Statesville)
♦ Bronze: Thomas Ward (Pack #174 Troutman)

Nine-Year-Old Medalists

♦ Gold: Isaac Connelly (Pack #607 Statesville)
♦ Silver: Grayson Traponi (Pack #377 Mooresville)
♦ Bronze: Max Chaney (Pack #173 Mt. Mourne)

Ten/Eleven-Year-Old Medalists

♦ Gold: Jameson Sowere (Pack #607 Statesville)
♦ Silver: Conner Marietta (Pack #377 Mooresville)
