The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office recognized the latest class of ICSO Citizens Academy graduates on Thursday evening.

During the graduation ceremony, held at the the ICSO annex at 1714 Wilkesboro Highway, the graduates enjoyed a meal, watched video highlights of the program and received certificates.

Sheriff Darren Campbell explained that the Sheriff’s Office is in the customer-service business and is committed to building a strong relationship with the community.

Participants commented on the best parts of the training and described the deputies as “kind, helpful, and relatable.”

Campbell shared information about the ICSO app and other ways that deputies can be reached .

“We are here for you,” the sheriff said. “We have an open-door policy. “

Chief Deputy William Hamby also addressed the group, explaining that the ICSO wants to give Citizens Academy participants the best possible experience.

“We are throwing the doors open and being completely transparent with you,” he said. “We want you to know us.”
