The Iredell County Emergency Communications team was honored with five prestigious awards at the recent North Carolina Chapter of the Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (NC APCO) and North Carolina Chapter of the National Emergency Number Association (NC NENA) state awards celebration in Wilmington.

The awards ceremony, which took place on May 8, recognized the outstanding achievements and dedication of emergency communications professionals throughout the state of North Carolina. The Iredell County team was proud to bring home five awards in various categories, showcasing their commitment to excellence in public safety communications.

“I am incredibly proud of our team for their hard work and dedication to serving the residents of Iredell County,” said Candy Miller, director of Emergency Communications for Iredell County. “These awards are a testament to the professionalism and expertise of our employees, and I am thrilled to see their efforts recognized at the state level.”

The Iredell County ECOM team was honored with awards in the following categories:

2024 Communications Director of the Year: Nikki Carswell
2024 Radio Technician of the Year: Jamie Barrier
2024 Support Personnel of the Year: Scott Niblock
2024 Communications Trainer of the Year: Kristie Harbison
2024 Communications Supervisor of the Year: Ashley Crankshaw

These awards highlight the exceptional skills and accomplishments of the Iredell County Emergency Communications team and their commitment to providing the highest level of service to the community.

“We are truly grateful for the dedication and hard work of our emergency communications professionals,” said Iredell County Sheriff Darren Campbell. “Their commitment to public safety and their ability to respond to emergencies with professionalism and compassion is truly commendable.
