The Mooresville Graded School District has announced the appointment of two new district administrators:

Director of Research and Accountability

The MGSD Board of Education has approved the appointment of Rob Orrill as the district’s new director of research and accountability.

Orrill is already known and respected in the district. He has worked as the assistant principal at East Mooresville Intermediate School since 2021. In that position, he has served as the school testing coordinator, as well as assisting teachers in data collection and analysis to improve performance. He also provided direct support for the EMIS school improvement planning process.

Rob Orrill

Orrill worked as a classroom teacher for 16 years before being hired by MGSD. In that time, he was named Teacher of the Year at two different schools and was recognized for being in the top 25 percent of math teachers in the State of North Carolina as measured by EVAAS growth each of his last four years teaching.

Orrill received his bachelor’s and master’s degree from Wright State University in Ohio and his Graduate Certificate in School Leadership from Appalachian State University. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family, cheering on Cincinnati sports teams, and playing pickleball and volleyball.

MGSD Career and Technical Administrator

The MGSD Board of Education also approved the appointment of Kevin Wilson as the district’s new career and technical education administrator.

Wilson has worked in MGSD since 2014, when he was hired as an assistant principal and athletic director at Mooresville High School. In August 2021, he was appointed as the Career Development coordinator. In that role, he has helped expand work-based learning opportunities within MGSD’s Career and Technical Education program

Kevin Wilson

Prior to being hired by MGSD, Wilson worked at North Mecklenburg High School for 16 years, first as a Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management teacher and then as dean of students and athletic director.

Wilson earned his bachelor’s degree in education from California State University Stanislaus and his master’s degree in school administration from Gardner-Webb University. He also holds his professional chef certification from the California Culinary Academy. When not helping students navigate different CTE career pathways, Wilson enjoys spending time with family, playing pickleball, camping and traveling, and woodworking.
