FROM STAFF REPORTS

The Mooresville Town Board of Commissioners on Monday agreed to spend $7.62 million to complete the development of Cornelius Road Park.

Commissioners approved a $7.33 million contract with G.L. Wilson Co., the lowest bidder, for the project, which includes the construction of three new turf soccer fields, upgraded lighting, a shelter with restrooms and a food truck plaza.
The project also includes a 288-space parking area with five charging stations for electric vehicles.

An additional $330,000 was earmarked for furnishings and playground equipment.

Construction is scheduled to begin on June 3 and be finished by next summer, town staff said.

During construction, the Officer Jordan Sheldon Dog Park, playground, tennis courts and restroom will remain open. The baseball fields and part of the disc golf course will be closed.
