The Statesville Fire Department has successfully completed a comprehensive inspection conducted by the N.C. Association of Rescue and EMS.

The inspection has resulted in the reaffirmation of existing certifications and led to the acquisition of several new certifications, while showcasing the SFD’s commitment to excellence and community safety.

The SFD underwent a successful reinspection of Medical Responder, Heavy Rescue Provider, High Angle Rescue, and Confined Space Rescue certifications, demonstrating the department’s dedication to maintaining high standards of service delivery in these critical areas.

In addition, the department was also awarded new certifications in Trench Rescue, Swiftwater Rescue, Agriculture Rescue, and Surface Water Rescue. 

Statesville Fire Chief Glenn Kurfees expressed his gratitude to all department members for their dedication and efforts in achieving these certifications. He emphasized that these certifications reinforce the SFD’s commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of the community in various emergency situations.

“We are proud of our team’s accomplishments and their dedication to serving our community with integrity, compassion, and proficiency,” Kurfees explained. “These certifications, alongside our esteemed ISO-1 rating and reaccreditation with the Commission on Fire Accreditation International (CFAI) and the Center for Public Safety Excellence, Inc. (CPSE), are a testament to our commitment to excellence in emergency response.”
