Statesville resident Sarah Beth Thompson, daughter of Chris and April Thompson, will be competing this weekend in Winston-Salem at the Youth America Grand Prix ballet competition for the first time.

She will be performing The First Shade variation from Petipa’s “La Bayadere.”

Youth America Grand Prix provides an opportunity for motivated dance students to learn the process of intense rehearsal preparation, to see and experience other aspiring talented dancers from other states, meet others with the same passion and love for dance, and possibly benefit from scholarship opportunities.

Sarah Beth recently started her ninth-year training with Centre Ballet Conservatory of Statesville.

“I have enjoyed the process of preparing to compete,” she said. “Mrs. Noel’s training is both patient and detailed. I am excited to see what the weekend holds.”
