FROM STAFF REPORTS

A Statesville man faces multiple drug charges following an investigation by the Statesville Police Department.

Randall Carr

The SPD announced the arrest of Randall Antonio Carr, 44, of Glade Street in a news release.

Carr’s arrest was the culmination of an SPD investigation initiated as the result of citizen complaints about illegal drug activity at 928 Glade Street, police said.

After investigators and officers conducted surveillance and made undercover purchases of crack cocaine from that location, SPD personnel executed a search warrant at 928 Glade Street on February 6.

During the execution of the search warrant, officers located and seized nearly 30 grams of cocaine, 105 dosage units of oxycodone, and 11 grams of marijuana, according to the news release. U.S. currency and drug paraphernalia were also seized, police said.

Carr was apprehended at the scene. During the course of the investigation, he experienced a medical emergency and was transported to a local hospital, where he was admitted for treatment, police said.

After being discharged from the hospital on February 8, Carr was taken into custody and charged with trafficking in opiates, possession with intent to sell or deliver cocaine, possession with intent to sell or deliver a schedule II narcotic (oxycodone), felony maintenance of a dwelling for controlled substances, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Carr was presented before a magistrate, who ordered him held at the Iredell County Detention Center without bond due to his existing bond status related to other charges.

The Statesville Police Department encourages residents to report any suspicious behavior.
