Five new Statesville Police Department officers were sworn in Wednesday during a ceremony in Statesville City Hall. Chief David Onley presided over the event, introducing each officer, while Mayor Costi Kutteh had the honor of administering the oath.

The new officers are:

Officer Wadrina Ealy is a native of Statesville and joined the SPD as a telecommunicator in February 2022. She transitioned to a recruit position and completed Basic Law Enforcement Training at Rowan Cabarrus Community College in 2023.

Officer Cali Adams is a native of Statesville and holds a degree in psychology and forensic anthropology from Western Carolina University. She completed BLET at Mitchell Community College and graduated in December 2023.

Officer Hayden Harkey is a native of Statesville and holds a degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Western Carolina University. He completed his BLET training at Mitchell Community College, graduating in December 2023.

Officer Orion Mathis is a native of Wilkes County. He holds a degree in Exercise Science with a minor in general business from Appalachian State University. He completed BLET at Wilkes Community College and graduated in December 2023.

Officer Justin Thooft is a native of Lidderdale, Iowa. He attended BLET at Wilkes Community College and graduated in December 2023.

“The addition of these officers reflects the department’s commitment to excellence and serving the community,” the SPD said. “Each officer brings unique skills and experiences that will contribute to maintaining public safety and enhancing community relations.”
