Special to IFN

The 16th Annual Timmy Belcher Memorial Rainbow Kidz Run is coming to Downtown Statesville on Saturday, May 2. Whether you’re a seasoned runner or a casual walker, this event offers something for everyone.

The event supports Rainbow Kidz, a program of Hospice & Palliative Care of Iredell County, providing grief support at no cost to children and families in our community. Your participation helps ensure no child has to grieve alone.

You can run or walk in in the 5K, 10K, or free kids fun run — or sign up as a virtual participant.

As participants register, organizers invite them to ask: Who will you run to remember?

Participants can make their run even more personal with race bibs that include space to write the name of someone they are honoring or remembering. This is a meaningful way to carry your loved one with you every step of the way.

You can even join as a team! Gather your family, friends, co-workers, classmates, run club, or any group. Teams are also welcome to choose to run or walk in memory of a loved one, making the event even more meaningful.

The race will begin and end on Broad Street in front of Broad Street United Methodist Church (315 W. Broad Street), bringing energy and excitement to the heart of downtown Statesville.

While the event no longer includes the cycling portion, the heart of the event remains the same.

Originally created as a bike ride by Timmy Belcher, the event continues to celebrate his life and legacy while raising vital funds for Rainbow Kidz and the children they serve.
