Members of the Circle of Giving gathered Sunday afternoon to award six college scholarships to area students.
The six recipients were selected from 39 applicants and demonstrated both academic excellence and a strong commitment to giving back to others, said COG member Debra Turner Bailey.
“These students wrote movingly in their essays about times they sacrificed their own time or energy to uplift their families, their schools, their churches, and their communities. It is an honor to recognize them today,” she said.
Each student received a $2,000 scholarship thanks to funds raised by the Circle of Giving’s annual Gospel’s Finest event, as well as a contribution from an anonymous donor.
The 2026 scholarship recipients are:
♦ Andrew Cummings, Mooresville High School;
♦ Andrew Harris, South Iredell High School;
♦ Konner Harward, Westside High School;
♦ Malia Hunter, Statesville High School;
♦ Darbee Lewis, South Iredell High School; and
♦ Carli Moorefield, North Iredell High School
The Circle of Giving is a group of more than 100 women “dedicated to charitable, religious and educational causes,” Turner said. “We strive to make a tangible difference in our community, particularly for families and individuals facing hardships.”
