The City of Statesville NC has released its 2025 Water Quality Report, confirming that the city’s drinking water meets or exceeds all health standards set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the North Carolina Department of Environmental and Natural Resources (DENR).
Statesville’s Water Quality Report, prepared by the City’s Water Resources Department, complies with the EPA’s National Primary Drinking Water Regulation for Consumer Confidence Reports (CCR). It provides detailed information on drinking water sources, testing methods, detected substances, and their levels.

“We are committed to delivering safe, dependable drinking water to our community every day,” said Harry Hull, Statesville’s Water Resources Plant supervisor. “Our team works continuously to meet rigorous standards while ensuring our system remains reliable, efficient, and prepared to support the needs of our residents and local businesses.”
The Water Resources Department has received the N.C. Area Wide Optimization Award from the N.C. Division of Water Resources for the sixth consecutive year. This award recognizes water systems that excel in reducing turbidity – cloudiness caused by tiny particles in the water. Keeping turbidity low is essential for maintaining water quality, as it helps remove substances that could interfere with disinfection. While all drinking water systems must meet state and federal standards, Statesville consistently surpasses these requirements.
Protecting drinking water is a shared responsibility. Residents can help by properly disposing of chemicals, taking used motor oil to recycling centers, and keeping storm drains clear of debris. Reporting storm drain issues to 1-866-41-STORM also helps protect water resources.
The city’s primary water source is the Catawba River Basin at Lookout Shoals Lake, with a backup supply from the South Yadkin River. Additionally, the city maintains emergency and regular-use connections with neighboring municipalities to ensure a reliable water supply for the community.
