The EnergyUnited Foundation donated over $200,000 in the first quarter of 2026 to nonprofits, individuals and families to meet critical needs across the EnergyUnited service area.
From January through March, the EnergyUnited Foundation approved 68 grants. These awards included $195,201.70 in individual and household assistance, along with $15,000 in nonprofit grants to address critical community needs.
Among the nonprofit recipients, A Storehouse for Jesus in Davie County received $10,000 to support its food distribution program, which provides essential resources—including food, clothing, household items, medical care and prescription medications, to uninsured, financially vulnerable residents.
In Iredell County, Children’s Hope Alliance received $5,000 to support its Crisis Needs Fund, which assists children and families facing urgent financial hardship by helping cover critical needs such as medical care, transportation, temporary shelter, food, utilities and other emergency support.
“Children’s Hope Alliance is extremely grateful to the EnergyUnited Foundation for supporting our children and families in crisis,” shares Sarah Gray, director of grants for Children’s Hope Alliance. “This generous gift will provide immediate relief to local families who need one-time help with medicine, dental visits, transportation, shelter, food or essential furniture.”
These nonprofit partners play a vital role in addressing urgent community needs and align with EnergyUnited’s commitment to community service.
“The strength of our communities is rooted in neighbors helping neighbors,” said LaQuisha Parks, vice president of energy services and corporate communications “Through the EnergyUnited Foundation and our Operation-Round Up program, our members provide meaningful support that makes a lasting difference in the communities we serve.”
Funding for the EnergyUnited Foundation is made possible by EnergyUnited members who contribute to the Operation-Round Up program. Through this initiative, participating members round up their electric bills each month, with contributions pooled into a fund that supports assistance for individuals, families and nonprofit organizations facing critical needs—demonstrating how small monthly donations can collectively create a meaningful impact.
