Supporting Early Literacy in Iredell County
Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library provides free, high-quality books to children from birth to age five, helping build early literacy skills and school readiness. Due to high demand and paused state funding, new enrollment in the program is currently on hold in Iredell County. Despite this challenge, the Partnership remains committed to ensuring children continue to have access to books and is actively working to secure additional funding to reopen enrollment.
“Early experiences shape the foundation for all future learning, with critical brain development occurring before age five,” said Lisa Familo, executive director at the Partnership. “Access to books at an early age helps children build the skills and confidence they need to succeed in school and beyond.” Funds raised through the raffle will help sustain the program locally and move toward the goal of resuming enrollment for more children in the community.
A Call to the Community
The Iredell County Partnership for Young Children is seeking to raise $5,000 through this initiative and is calling on community members, families, and local supporters to get involved. “Your raffle ticket purchase is more than a chance to win – it’s an investment in a child’s future,” Deputy Director Lisa Pullis shared. “Together, we can continue lifting children to better beginnings.”
As Dolly Parton famously said, “You can never get enough books into the hands of enough children.”
