Special to IFN

The Iredell County Health Department invites community members to attend Art of Recovery, a powerful event centered on healing, connection, and hope through creative expression.

The event, which is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. on June 4, at the Mitchell Community College Executive Training Center (701 W. Front St., Statesville), will feature a screening of “Expressions of Recovery.”

The film showcases nine individuals who share their journeys through addiction and recovery using art as a pathway to healing. The screening highlights stories of resilience, honesty, and transformation, offering a meaningful perspective for individuals in recovery, those currently experiencing substance use challenges, and the broader community.

Following the film, Integrated Care of Greater Hickory  Statesville Peer Support Specialist and Site Manager Samantha Short will share her personal recovery story – offering insight, encouragement, and a reminder that recovery is possible for everyone.

“This event creates space for real stories to be shared in a way that builds understanding and connection,” said Health Promotion Coordinator Dinikia Savage. “Recovery looks different for everyone, but no one has to go through it alone.”

Lunch will be provided, and space is limited.
