Mooresville Fire-Rescue firefighters, along with personnel from Shepherds and Mount Mourne fire departments, responded to a structure fire off Blessing Lane about 7:21 p.m. on Saturday. After a working fire was transmitted with smoke showing from the single-story structure, Lake Norman and South Iredell fire departments were added to the alarm, along with Iredell County EMS. A quick response and aggressive interior attack contained the fire to a bedroom. The fire was placed under control at 7:36 p.m. No injuries were reported, and the Red Cross was notified to assist two adult residents who were displaced by the fire. Firefighters also rescued two baby squirrels found at the scene. Battalion Chief Chris Thompson was in command of the operation. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
