A Conover man faces drug trafficking charges following a motor vehicle stop at the intersection of Charlotte Highway and Shepherd Road in southern Iredell County.

Sheriff Darren Campbell announced the arrest of Dairel Odas Dugger Jr., 53, of Travis Road, Conover, in a news release Tuesday. 

Deputy J. Raper, who is assigned to the ICSO Aggressive Criminal Enforcement Team, conducted the traffic stop about 7:20 p.m. on Friday, April 17, Campbell said. During the stop, Deputy Raper searched the vehicle and located methamphetamine, pills, and drug paraphernalia, according to the news release.

Dugger was arrested and transported to the Iredell County Detention Center. He later appeared before a magistrate, who issued a $150,000 secured bond on the following charges: Felony Possession of Methamphetamine; Felony Possession with Intent to Deliver or Sell Schedule III Controlled Substance; Felony Trafficking Opium or Heroin by Possession; Felony Trafficking Opium or Heroin by Transportation; Felony Maintaining a Vehicle for Controlled Substance; and Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

According to the ICSO, the suspect’s criminal history includes the following charges: two counts of Misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana, Misdemeanor Common Law Robbery, Misdemeanor Simple Possession of Schedule VI Controlled Substance, Felony Sell Schedule II Controlled Substance, Felony Possession with Intent to Manufacture, Sell, or Deliver Methamphetamine, Misdemeanor Resisting a Public Officer, Two Counts of Felony Possession with Intent to Manufacture, Sell, or Deliver a Schedule III Controlled Substance, and Misdemeanor Larceny.
